For this week’s project, I put my focus on creating a movie poster for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Since Marvel fans expect something big, dramatic, and polished, I wanted to give off that “blockbuster energy” right away.

When building the poster, I began with the background, opting for dark, stormy green tones that evokedd tension. It felt like the right move to set the stage for a villain-centered story. For the subject, I went with a strong focus on the character front and center, locking eyes with the audience to create intensity and connection which is why I chose our main antagonist "Dr Doom" aka "Robert Downey Jr.". The metallic title and bold typography brought the Marvel brand identity into play while keeping everything aligned with that “larger-than-life” style Marvel always aims for.

That said, as I got toward the end of compiling the design, something felt off. The balance just wasn’t there. That’s when I remembered a wise piece of advice I was once told: if it doesn’t look good, level it out. After tweaking alignment, shifting some visual weight, and fine-tuning the placement, the whole design finally clicked, but not only did I fix all of these issues I also realized that everything felt underexposed, which when leveling it out comes into play as well, and with a couple of levels' adjustments and some curve adjustments. Voilà we got out final product. Overall, I thank that little reminder, which was the key to turning something that felt unfinished into a poster that looks ready for the big screen.
