Tyreek Hill

Instructions

1 - Based upon the jobs you looked at and the requested skills of each, identify a piece you have previously created that you could improve to show you possess the skills being requested, or create a new project to show that you have the skills the employer is looking for.

2 - Create a blog post about this project: who is the audience, what is the message, and what are you hoping to accomplish with the piece, what design decisions did you make, and why did you make each one?

3 - Add the piece to your online Portfolio

Welcome back, y'all! I have a new project, a new piece, and some new information to share with all of you for this week's portfolio piece. While most of my work has been new creations, I wanted to continue that trend. So, what better way than to add to my Miami Dolphins pride, even though some may hate it?

  Background time

To start us off, I wanted to get a foundation for my poster, and you may be asking what type of poster. I wanted to give some hype to a favorite player of mine, Tyreek Hill. So I wanted to create a player poster just for him. But to start off with a poster, you need a background, and my background here is a gradient map of the team colors that I have carefully mashed up with a fantastic texture to make sure that the background doesn't feel flat when the overall poster is completed.

Let's get some life in this place!

But without some images, the poster wouldn't really be about Tyreek, would it? So I went through some deep searches and some player photos to find some great images to use. Which took me a little bit, but we eventually found some.

With some of the images, it took me a while to decide what orientation I wanted all the images to go in, especially with most of them being great candidates to be the main subject. But evidently, I found my three, and this orientation suited the poster very well, and who could forget the whole reason why he is even here to begin with.

 Who is this guy?

What now? Well, to answer that question is to bring some text into this image to make our subject actually known, and tie the whole player poster idea together. And some nice added touches to both the images and the text. So with a lot of the hype surrounding Tyreek, his usually called the superstar of the Miami Dolphins, and this seems to be the case, especially with the talk and rumors surrounding him possibly being traded to the Steelers, and possibly the Vikings. But enough of that nonsense....

And to conclude our whole process, let's add some well-needed features and small touches to the overall poster. Those small touches include some adjustment layers to the player images to bring the contrast and brightness of Tyreek to fruition. Some small shadows and highlights where the poster lacks in texture. And finally, a black to white gradient fill to highlight some places, while bringing the shadows in on some. With all of those combined, we get the final Image.
