Miami Dolphins Piece

 Instructions

1 - Based upon the jobs you looked at and the requested skills of each, identify a piece you have previously created that you could improve to show you possess the skills being requested, or create a new project to show that you have the skills the employer is looking for.

2 - Create a blog post about this project: who is the audience, what is the message, and what are you hoping to accomplish with the piece, what design decisions did you make, and why you made each one?

For my Project, I wanted to create a piece oriented around the Miami Dolphins and their "Graphic Designer" position that they had available. At first, I wanted to revise one of my pieces that I had created to match what they would be looking for, but seeing as none of my styles had fit their descriptions, I decided I would start from scratch and see what I could try and make from what I had.
First Step at the process of the miami dolphins image

 First Step

At first I wanted to try and make a simple background, to not draw too much attention away from our main piece, but also add that needed depth to the image. So where I started is with Illustrator and making a Jagged line background using the color palette of the team, with this I also added their logo to further insinuate what team this is, while also adding the well needed spice to the background. I had also conducted some research into their brand guide to see if this was in limitation of what I could do, and it seems like I am in the clear.

With this finished, I decided that we could also use some texture to the piece, and possibly some actual subjects that are a part of the team, and with this brought me to the second half of my design process.

 Second step

With the second half of my design process, I wanted to bring some actual life to the image, so I added some team members. First is our lower subject Jay ayaji, Running back for the Miami Dolphins, next we have left subject Alec Ingold, FullBack for the Miami Dolphins, and lastly our far right subject Jarvis Landry, Wide Reciever for the Miami Dolphins. These are all characters that have lit up the Miami Dolphins' performances within the years they all played, and are all characters that tie in their personality as a football franchise. With this, the background is all tied in with a perfect grungy texture to tie in the dirt aspect you would find on the field.

And to finally tie in all the aspects together I wanted to make sure that I kept with the brand and add the main point of this design to begin with. The logo. But I did want to be sure on what I could, so I referred back to the brand identity guide that they have. While I couldn't use the exact fonts they used I did try my very best to find identical fonts for the image, but to conclude everything the final result needed some well needed touch ups of course. So when and doubt level it out. I added to final adjustment layers like some levels, and curves to bring a well needed vibrance out of the image and lighten up a bit, while subtle it is very much there.
