Tell a Story

Welcome again to my blog! Today's blog is something special and very different from the rest. Today's blog is a story-told project, and what I mean by that is that the piece that I have worked on today has gone through a ton of revision and different ideas to get to its final result. You will see in a moment that we have put a day's work into a beautiful piece.
This project was centered on creating and perfecting an image that, upon a gaze, may tell a story. What story it may tell is up to the onlooker.

This image was taken out of the 50 we took that night and was some of the best work from that night. I am most proud of this image and the work I put into making the image look how it does now. And beginning on that base is how the image first started. With the raw import being a lot lighter than I would want it to be I wanted to bring the exposure and the contrast to their darkest without making the image under-exposed and making it too contrasted. On top of the basic work on the exposure, I wanted to make sure its highlights and shadows weren't too powerful on the image. And making sure to add an S-curve to my tone curve we had our raw image sorted out in terms of the basic adjustments.
With the basic adjustments out of the way, I wanted to get started with the most important masks to the image, which were adding a radial gradient and making sure to invert it to make our focus subject pop out in the image. I also decided to mask my subject and up the exposure to make sure he is drowned out by the shadows in the image. With our most important masks out of the way, I wanted to make sure the very bright areas of the image weren't overpowering the image as a whole and with a bit of brushwork and linear gradients I was able to bring those overpowering lights to their darkest without making them opaque. Finally, I wanted to add some hints to the main light source in our image and that would be the light post. I decided to add some radial gradients to dim them just a tad and add some shadow to the bottom of the light post to add that nighttime feel to the image, and make sure that glare pops.

With all this done I got my final image. With most of my images, I always decided to add captions to my greater pieces, and the caption to this specific image was given "Guide". But I don't want to take out the full imaginative portion of this image. Whatever the reader might want to come up with is up to them to decide and what makes this project all some much fun. I would love to see what you all might want to come up with for the image. Once again thank you all for taking your time to read and tuning in like always. Cannot wait to talk to you all again adios! 👋
