Hello again! Welcome back to a new week and a new piece that will be added to my collection of projects that are going to end up in my portfolio. Today's post will revolve around a job position that I found very recently that I wanted to give a try, and see if I can create a piece around. So let's get our Social Media fingers on and create this thing.
Humble Beginnings
To start off the social media post, we need something to base it on, and who better than my favorite artist of this upcoming era, Quadeca? With the recent release of his latest album, "Vanisher, Horizon, Scraper," I've been in love with the album and all of its sounds. So when he stated in one of his Instagram posts that he would be going on tour throughout the United States, I just knew exactly what to make. An event poster based on his tour. So I went searching far and wide to find the correct graphics and fonts to make this post really come to life. Major props to illustrator 'Digiyams' for creating all of the graphics for this album, because it really was all I needed for this post, and what designer would I be mooching off the mastermind work? But none of that, I went to grab the vector that was used on the album artwork, and made the background the same texture used in the illustration.
What's this even for?
With the illustration and texturing out of the way, let's actually get into the whole reason why this post is even being made. I scoured through Reddit and other posts from fans like me to find what the correct font was used in the vanisher logo and other works, and an amazing individual found the correct font used, so shoutout to them for finding it. With that out of the way, I went about designing a perfect layout and style that I wanted to go for for the whole tour look. And I settled on the large font and vectors. But the cool thing about this font is that it doesn't originally come textured that way. So with my tools at hand, I decided to manually make the texturing myself, and with some clever masking and brush work. I brought the rough texture used in the main logo and artwork to life. Thankfully, I turned out as amazing as it did, cause at first I didn't think it would turn out like that. But with the text done and the texturing done, I added some small vectors to tie in the whole theme of the album, which was the "tale of sailor, lost at sea".
This piece was meant to be really simple, but heavily detailed in small form factors that not many would see. But that is what I wanted out of this post, cause it all ties in with how the album plays out to begin with. It's a vast sea with not much to look at, but when you look closely. There is a whole lot of stuff that you wouldn't think would be there. Which brings us to the final result of my social media post for Quadeca.
