Color Story Blog

Welcome Back! I'm ever so grateful to see you again, and boy do I have a blog for you today. Today's blog is about my color story project what I like to call it. Today's project was to do a series of shoots all conducted around the basis of (Color). What today's project required me to do today was to try and come up with a piece directed around color that can also depict a story or message behind the piece.

This project was one of the harder ones to shoot. With this week being interesting and eventful I was sucked dry out of my creative juices. BUT! I  did not let that stop me and started to get on this project right away!

To begin this little journey to find the best format to go around for this certain project I wanted to choose what type of message or story I  generally wanted to go for. And with a lot of thoughts in my mind, I  wanted to stray away from the cool and somewhat sad type of themes, and mostly structure my shoot around a warm color. With this in mind, I got straight to work on how to fix my color and lighting towards the subject of choice. And with my trusty flashlight and colored films I got straight to work. And work I did. Out of the whole photo shoot I got to work on one image and I would say made me think a lot about what the message would be for it.

At first glance, there was a lot to do with the raw image. But with the idea and vision ahead of me I got to work with my basic adjustments and color corrections. With of course making sure my exposure and contrast were up to standard. And tweaking my whites, and blacks. My shadows, and highlights. Getting them well adjusted I got straight to color correction and making sure the warm and temperature were aligning with one another and tweaking certain hues and colors to further add to the warm color that was displayed.

Of course, those were just basic adjustments. And the real work was yet to begin. I moved on to the masking portion of my image. And with this, I  wanted to further exaggerate the lighting on the image, so I traced the light circle coming from the source to where it is hitting so in my case, my subject and the wall behind the subject. With the mask for my lighting being done, I needed some masks to give more focus to my subject and what they are doing so with this I added a radial gradient making sure to invert it, and dropping its exposure to make sure to give the image the focus and depth that I need. And with most of the work being done. I just need to add a couple of brush masks to make sure my image has an accurate focus on my subject and make it stand out more in the image.
With all said and done I sat back on my work. And decided to take a long look at what is the whole point of this image. And much time thinking it all boiled down to my caption for the image. "Escape". With how the way my subject needs their shoes and putting them on and with the door half open. It all concludes with leaving the area to escape to another. For the purpose being being held up to the reader of course! But much thought went into making sure the story for this piece was made even when editing the image it just sits in the back of your mind on what you are creating and for what purpose.

But other than that, Today's project was a lot of fun and of course week by week the level of difficulty will increase, but I encourage it. It makes these projects all much more fun and amazing to create and finish. With enough being said, Thank you for tuning in and reading my little blog, and I cannot wait for the next time you tune in. I will see you all later, On to the next one!👋
